1 What exactly is a POS (Point of Sale) insurance agent?

A POS Person, or POSP, is an insurance intermediary category introduced by the IRDAI. A POSP is authorised to sell simple, pre-underwritten insurance products — such as motor, personal accident, travel and certain health and life plans — on behalf of a licensed insurer or broker like Policy Master. It is the easiest and fastest legal route to start selling insurance in India.

2 Is there any joining fee?

No. Registration, training and certification with Policy Master are completely free. There is no joining fee, no deposit and no annual charge. If anyone asks you to pay money for a POS code, please report it to us immediately on 011-4122-1222.

3 Do I need insurance experience or a specific qualification?

You must be at least 18 years old and have passed at least Class 10 (matriculation). No insurance experience, degree or prior sales background is required — the training covers everything you need.

4 How long does the training take and is there an exam?

As per IRDAI norms, a POSP must complete a mandatory training programme followed by an examination. Our training is delivered online through videos and study material, so you can complete it at your own pace from home. Once you clear the online test, your POSP certificate is issued and your selling code is activated.

5 How do I earn, and how much?

You earn a commission on every eligible policy you sell. Rates vary by product, insurer and policy type and are governed by IRDAI regulations and each insurer's payout structure. There is no fixed salary and no upper limit on earnings. Your relationship manager will share the applicable payout structure once your POSP code is active.

6 When and how is my commission paid?

Commission is credited directly to the bank account registered in your profile. You can view your policy-wise commission statement and payout status any time from the Commission section of your partner dashboard.

7 Can I do this part-time along with my job or business?

Yes. There is no minimum target, no fixed working hours and no attendance requirement. Many of our partners run it alongside a shop, job or existing advisory business as an additional income stream.

8 Can I apply if I am already an LIC or other company's agent?

Please declare any existing agency or intermediary appointment in your application. IRDAI rules restrict holding certain overlapping appointments at the same time. Our onboarding team will review your case and confirm what is permitted before your code is issued.

9 Which documents are required?

You do not upload anything on this page — just keep them ready for the verification call: PAN card, an ID proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / Driving Licence — front and back), a passport-size photograph, and a bank proof such as a cancelled cheque. An education proof (10th marksheet) may also be requested.

10 How long does onboarding take after I submit the form?

Our team calls you back within 24 to 48 working hours to collect and verify your documents. Once they are approved, your training account is activated the same day.
